  • Well, people came, wonderful times were had, blisters were created, amazing pizza was made, and zoo animals were photographed.  Suffice it to say, spring break and having people here was amazing.  I loved the fact that they came to visit me, made me feel very special and all.  But at the end of the week, I was zonked.  The Sunday after their sad departure, I laid on my living room floor watching movies and sleeping off and on.  It was nice to relax before we jumped back into school.  I can't believe that we only have 10 more weeks left.  Summer is all too rapidly approaching.  What I'm doing for the summer, I have no clue, but it'll be fun.

I just had the most enjoyable lunch I've had a in a long time.  We got to Panera at 12:30ish and didn't leave till 4ish.  The great part was that we talked the entire time about everything. I think I'll be smiling about this for a little bit more time before I come back to earth.

  • Two worlds collide

I really can't believe that I'm already here, at spring break, three quarters through my school year.  It is crazy how fast this came up, and I'm sure it will be crazy how fast it will go.  Things are going very well, though and I'm still doing good, still living and having fun.  This week I'm staying home for break but..... I'm getting VISITORS!!!!!  My mom is getting into town in about three hours and my sister and a wonderful friend will be here in about 60 hours-ish.  We're going to go hiking, shopping, eating good food, and just spending time together.  I can't wait to introduce people who are incredibly important to me to new people who are becoming increasingly important to me.  I have been blessed to have made some amazing friends here who are not only fun to be with, but are helping me grow as a Christian.  Hopefully they like each other.  Other than that, life continues blissfully normal.  I hope everyone enjoyed the day set aside to specifically remember what a gift salvation is.

  • yup, still living

So really, North Carolina is wonderful.  Just one of the reasons, it was 60 today.  Not a warm 60, but 60 none the less.  Long t-shirt and you're all set.  I love mi. and the snow and truly do miss it, but this isn't so bad.  I'm stll alive and kicking down here.  I've survived the really long break between christmas and spring break (just about) and get to see some family and friends in less than a month!!!  I did manage to bang up my knee pretty bad a month ago.  I was hiking and fell hard.  I guess my knee cap hit a rock (I'd have no clue for sure, cause it was dark). Suffice it to say, my knee is still swollen and feels warm to the touch.  So... off to the doctor's I go.  Probably have to get it drained, which could turn out to be cool.

School is good, the kids are great, but I have some parents who are driving me absolutely nuts.  But that comes with any teaching job anywhere, so overall I really can't complain.  I have finished all my observations and it looks like they want me back next year.  Good news for me.  The best part is that I'll probably stay in 3rd grade and this means my work load will be cut almost in two.  I'll just use all my plans from this year, tweak them a bit, and maybe add a few new things, but it will be wonderful.

Oh, and I learned to ski.  The week after I fell, I went on a short ski weekend and had a blast. I learned I like to ski, as long as I can get past that sick feeling in my stomach at the thought of hurling myself down the mountain as I become a human bowling ball.  I think I shall have to try that again, at least before 8 more years is up.

  • Oh my

It seems the more I think that I'll have time off to relax and catch up with this thing, I more I seem to fill it up.  Things have been going very well lately.  I was blessed to be able to come home for a week at Christmas.  I think that was just enough time, I got see my family and friends get at least enough hugs until I get my next visitor from the north.  My sis and bro-in-law made me cry with such a thoughtful Christmas gift.  I hadn't asked for it, but the fact that they thought of it (especially since I've never been quite positive that my bro-in-law likes me) just brought me to tears.  When we went around and said what we were thankful for, I wasn't the only one crying though.  As good as it was to be home, it was nice to get back to my new "home".  DSCF7700

North Carolina will take quite a while to be my home, but it's starting to feel like it.  I am so thankful for the friends I've made here.  We hang out, have fun, and just "do life together".  A few weeks ago, at about 11 pm on a Sun night, some friends and I decided that we should drive to the Waffle house and while we were at it, head down to the beach for sunrise.  So around midnight, 5 of us packed into a jeep and took off.  While I'm not sure I will ever eat waffle house again, the memories from the trip were worth it.  We got back in town around 10, just in time to sleep away the day and get up to party for New Year's.  Talk about fun.

Then comes the grind.  This is our first full week back and it has been the longest week of my life.  I kept thinking that each day had to be Friday, but nope, no such luck.  Other than that, life is good and i'm still loving NC and teaching.

Here is a pic of the project I put together over break.  This probably took up the majority of my time, but it was fun creating it.
